Sei Young Kim Leads Buick LPGA Shanghai with Stellar 10-Under 62

Sei Young Kim, who is attempting to win her first tournament of the year, led the field in the 1st round of the Buick LPGA Shanghai on Thursday after shooting a solid 10-under 62.

The South Korean golfer displayed incredible skill at the renowned Qizhong Garden Golf Club, hitting an incredible 28 on her first nine holes. On the 17th hole, she made a stunning eagle. She continued her amazing play, finishing her round with a respectable score of 34 on the following nine holes.

Her notable third-place finish at the most recent LPGA event, the prestigious Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, in September, makes this achievement—her best round of the year so far—even more impressive.

American Lucy Li was three strokes behind with a score of 65, while Frenchwoman Celine Boutier was two shots behind with a score of 64.

Four players in an extremely competitive field scored remarkable 66s, trailing the leader by only four strokes. Among these gifted people are Chanettee Wannasaen of Thailand, Muni He of China, Peiyun Chien of Taiwan, and Leona Maguire of Ireland.

Seven players finished with a score of 67, which put them only five strokes behind.

Leading LPGA players Lydia Ko and Nelly Korda will not be participating in the current tournament. Notably, however, both have confirmed that they will be competing in the BMW Ladies Championship, which will be held in South Korea the following week.
